Rediscovered Wood Certification The Rainforest Alliance's Smartwood Program awards certification to forest product operations that are using reclaimed, recycled and/or salvaged wood materials that meet the organization's standards.
The Building Material Reuse Association (BMRA) is a non-profit, membership-based organization supporting deconstruction and building material recovery in the public and private sectors.
The Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) is a nonprofit organization working to advance sustainable, equitable, and community-centered economic development through research and educational activities and technical assistance. ILSR promotes deconstruction and material recovery through its publications, events, and pilot projects.
The Reuse Development Organization (ReDo) is a national and international non-profit organization that promotes reuse as an environmentally sound, socially beneficial, and economical means for managing surplus and discarded materials.
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a web site that contains a C&D debris home page with extensive information about C&D debris recovery including a wide range of deconstruction publications.
The US Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED rating system has become the national benchmark for high performance green buildings. LEED credits are available for use of recycled-content materials, construction waste management, building material reuse, building reuse, and furniture reuse.
